Chimney repointing, also known as tuckpointing, involves carefully removing deteriorated mortar from between the brick courses and replacing it with fresh mortar that matches the original in composition, color, and joint profile. This process restores the weatherproofing of the mortar joints and stabilizes the masonry structure. Properly executed repointing can extend the life of a chimney by decades.
